(I) want rain~

There was a book fair/sale at the Expo a few days ago and Y got me two Merlin novels just because while he was there like a bookworm drawn to book sales. Envy me, for my boyfriend is both nerdy and awesome XD
(Ooh, Colin and Bradley~ *Coos at book covers*)

Anyway. I started out typing this entry with a few things in mind that I wanted to say, but now I've forgotten what I was going to update about. Fail.

It was supposed to go something like: I kept nodding off at work because after years of staying up for uni stuff, I can't seem to keep to my 10p.m. bedtime. Waking up at 6a.m. for five days a week has made work hours very difficult to get through. And I've been packing my own lunch to work since the third day of work because eating outside meant having to endure the heat and the expensive CBD menu. Although I feel so wrung out tonight that I'm not really up to cooking something for tomorrow. I guess I'll just buy a sandwich from 7-11 tomorrow morning on my way to the bus stop. Then maybe I'll mention something about the crazy heat these few days. I didn't even have to switch on the heater for the shower; the water was too warm on the lowest setting. And that my hair's getting long enough to be at that length that its mere presence is irritating, and it sticks to the back of my neck and fizzes when it gets too warm or too humid even though I have straight hair (so totally not true that only curly and/or wavy hair fizzes). Can the rainy/monsoon season be here now? UGH.

Okay. I think my mind just went *kapoot* because it's functioning on a lack of energy while the weather is overheating it. Stupid equatorial weather.

私は奇妙な夢を見た。
わたしはきみょうなゆめをみた。
Watashi wa kimyou na yume wo mita.
I had a strange dream.

I think this is a sign that I'm too deep in the Merlin and Harry Potter fandom.

I had a dream that some of us (me and a few uni friends who I chat with more frequently on Twitter than we have the chance to in real life) have magic but it's not really accepted in society, and, added to that, one of the guys in my dream *ahem* isn't so straight.

There was rain, hoodies, flying on broomsticks, me having a mad search for my mobile phone with my previous phone in mind but eventually finding my current one, a young mother teaching homophobia to her child and why it's wrong for two people of the same gender to love each other, and our Media Interviews lecturer (strangely named 'Mr. London') searching/secretly hunting us down for being magic and accepting that homosexuality exists and thinking that it's not wrong.

I guess this dream alone explains how weird I am. Or who I am:

Rain: I LOVE rain.
Mobile phone: Geeky.
Having magic and not being accepted for it: Harry Potter and Merlin.
Broomstick flying: Harry Potter (I shouldn't have gotten myself angsty by looking at two pictures of Hedwig last night).
Homophobia-hate/Acceptance of the existence of homosexuality: Does this even need explaining?
Hoodies: I don't know, I just like hoodies.
Being hunted down by an ex-lecturer: It's not a secret that I DON'T LIKE HIM.
Him being called 'Mr. London': I have a thing for UK, a'ight?

I am so much weirder than I thought I am.

Um. Yes, I have a test tomorrow for my Creativity module (how ridiculous is that? What's the point in testing us about the theories and stuff related to something as abstract as creativity?!) but am digressing from it for a bit. Okay, so not 'a bit' because I've been watching (10 episodes of) The Big Bang Theory since lunch. And I initially wanted to wake up at 8.30am to study but was up at 8am and somehow fell back asleep until 11.30am. Ugh. So much time wasted.

Anyway, hey look it's Rex! Because apparently Y went and spent $4 on those egg toy capsule machines before it rolled out a Rex (or he exchanged with a friend who got the Rex), so... now I have it hanging from my handphone.

(I don't think he remembers/knows that Rex is my favourite from Toy Story, but he picked Rex out of the few other characters that rolled out, so. Yay! :D)

Yes, in case anyone's asking, there's no purpose whatsoever to this entry other than me wanting to brag about how awesome my bf is. HAHA.

Do you have good friends from other countries that you've met on LiveJournal? Have you ever met them in person? If not, do you think you ever will?
Submitted By moskalkov_opera (on LiveJournal)

Nope, I'm not getting a writer's/blogging block. I'm just trying to ease my way back in after my long blogging hiatus. HAI FLIST DID YOU MISS ME? :D

So. I do have good friends that I've made thanks to LJ and nope we haven't met in person. I wish we could meet in person but I'm not sure whether it'll be possible. It will be super awesome if we could, though.

My first few LJ friends were made through fandom (big surprise), specifically the CSI: Miami fandom, in the order of [livejournal.com profile] swift_tales, [livejournal.com profile] lausi_gm and [livejournal.com profile] spilled_notes. [livejournal.com profile] swift_tales was kind of unexpected because I was following her Odd Colour Series on FanFiction.Net and it led to more of her fics on her LJ. Thanks to the power of fangirling over the same OTP and fanfic commenting, there came friendship and the joining of LJ communities, which led me to [livejournal.com profile] lausi_gm and [livejournal.com profile] spilled_notes, who are awesome people who remind me to think more of myself than I do and who reassure me that I'm not as alone as I always think I am.

It's strange yet awesome how just one common interest can sustain these friendships for these past few years, and it's even more awesome that our common fandoms keep expanding to include Torchwood (oh, Ianto *wibbles*) and Merlin. I love it that we have similar tastes in UK series.

Then there's the fandom for w-inds. and WaT, where I've met [livejournal.com profile] lovryu, [livejournal.com profile] esined_xoxo, [livejournal.com profile] tomosuki, [livejournal.com profile] chychaai and [livejournal.com profile] gn_chan. The first three don't really count since we're in the same country, but I like them and they deserve a mention, especially [livejournal.com profile] lovryu, with whom I've shared lots of late-night-early-morning flaily times with over pretty and hilarious Japanese boys, the Merlin cast (Gaius's eyebrows FTW!), cracky British comedy shows, the similarities of our lives having been through the same education system and having enough similar character traits to be LJ-and-MSN-IM twins, and the EPIC FAIL of our fellow Singaporeans.

Come to think of it, the main reason why I know all these people came down to our love for hot and/or pretty boys/men. I love how superficial us fangirls are XD

I'm not a twelve-year-old child!

Curfews suck. And I really couldn't feel the vibration of my mobile phone through my shorts. Accept that, and shut it. And really, taking away my phone and Internet access for the night? I HAVE SUCH IMMATURE PARENTS (and utterly uncreative ones, at that).

In other news, I finally have my red Converse jacket back. YAYNESS.

Because I'm an unapologetic MERLIN fangirl )

Here it is, the whole bunch of photos I've uploaded but never got the change to blog about (all right, I admit, I was just procrastinating).

Seven hours left and I still haven't gotten round to do #5 of that list!

My fandom's EPIC BROMANCE is Facebook approved )

11 August: Leonardo da Vinci )

3 and 10 July: Baking! )

10 July: Dinner with friends from polytechnic year 1 class )

August: Trying to make sushi )

26 August: Cookies this time )

Phew! And that's #4 taken care of! Looking back, most of my 2009 has been about food (or most of my life...?). I'm such a pig. But well. Now that I have a part-time job that earns me at least double of the allowance I used to get from my mother pre-job, I can bear to part with a little more of my money on better (but still student-affordable) food. For me, enjoying food comes along with enjoying the company of friends I'm having that meal with, and that experience of trying something new together. So... I guess it worked out well for a food-filled 2009...? Heh :D

私の火曜日はどこに行ったか?
わたしのかようびはどこにいったか?
Watashi no kayoubi wa doko ni itta ka?
Where did my Tuesday go?

There are less than nine days left of this year, and considering I'll be working for three days later this week, I forced myself to check off #3 of my last-try-for-2009 list today before I run out of time.

It was super nerve-wrecking since I haven't been posting to my usual fandoms for such a long time that it was almost like posting for the first time all over again, and also I really was posting for the first time ever on new fandoms where there are already lots of brilliant fanfictions and I just felt inadequate and ashamed that I had the audacity to want to exist in the same LJ community as those amazing writers. Oh, crossposting. UGH. What a nightmare. It's the part I dread the most; making sure all the details follow the community's posting rules, that I didn't miss out anything and end up incurring the wrath of the mods, that all my links work, blah blah blah... OH EM GEE. *PULLS HAIR*

BUT. IT'S ALL DONE NOW. UGH. I've been working on this since after lunch and UGH LOOK AT THE TIME! IT'S HALF-PAST-9! I WANT MY TUESDAY BACK! D':

*Huffs* Oh well. Anyway, here are the links:

Next Step
[There was one last thing he needed to do before leaving the past behind.]
CSI: Miami fanfiction; Eric/Ryan; One-shot; Possible slash; Spoilers for season 8 episode 5 (Bad Seed); Dialogue-fic; PG; CBS and the various producers own CSI:Miami. I don't; Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lausi_gm for the hand-holding and the confidence-bestowing! *HUGS!*

20 Tweetfics
CSI: Miami | Glee | Merlin | Merlin RPF/S | Torchwood

THIS. IS OFFICIALY DONE DONE DONE. I can now go shower in peace, then go wrap up the gift I bought for tomorrow's company bbq+gift exchange (ugh I despair at my gift-wrapping skills, or lack thereof. Am dreading the process already).

I hope my work-friends are sensible enough to not buy anything impractical. *Nervous*

このままで続けます!
このままでつづけます!
Kono mama de tsuzukemasu!
(I'll) continue on like this!

Seeing as there's only two weeks left of 2009, and considering how much of a slave I am to Procrastination, I set about conquering my last-try-for-2009 list.

Feels like a good start )

Recently, I've gotten my sister hooked onto Doctor Who. It's just hilarious; she's always half-shielding her eyes through the episodes and getting easily freaked out but still wanting to watch more. I should think that's 'Objective Achieved', RTD and Steven Moffat.

One more Doctor Who convert! Yay, me! World, you're welcome :D

2010の前に…
2010のまえに…
2010 no mae ni...
Before 2010...

Well, before I could even begin to notice, another year is almost ending. And yet I still have some unfinished business left. Like Y.Mei used to say, it's better to settle everything and not have anything leftover to the next year (even though I'm not superstitious, heh...), so here's my very short list of things I want to get done in the remaining fortnight of 2009:

1. Pay the October and November bills for my mobile phone.
2. Get a haircut. No idea where I can get a good one at a cheap rate, though.
3. Post my tweetfics and that short Eric/Ryan fanfic I managed to complete.
4. Clear the backlog of photos I wanted to put up on LJ.
5. Deal with my drama (mama). For good.

Here's to hoping I can get them all done. Or at least three of them... *smacks self* Stop giving myself leniency to back out!

It has come

始まった!やっと始まった!
はじまった!やっとはじまった!
Hajimatta! Yatto hajimatta!
(It has) started! It has finally started!

Trimester is over, all my assignments submitted, JLPT4 over and done with a couple of hours ago (although I have a very bad feeling that I won't pass D: thanks to crazy school schedule leaving me with no time to study and I tried to cram everything into my head last night until 3a.m. and OMG THE LISTENING SECTION must you change your conversation details every few seconds? Stop confusing us! And the grammar section was just EPIC FAIL D: Am feeling very MEH about it).

But anyway, trimester break is finally here! THREE WEEKS! Okay, less than that, because I need to spare some days for work to get allowance, BUT BREAK! FINALLY! XD

So, as I have promised myself a few weeks ago to buy a tub of ice-cream and finish it all by myself...

Decadence YAY! )
