(I'm) bored~

Right. So I've been lazy and my LJ is on the verge of becoming a wasteland. I'm supposed to do my readings for Journalism because our presentation is in less than a week and we have to email one another the information to put into our Powerpoint slides by Monday, but, as we all know, it doesn't take much for me to give in to procrastination. Especially when there is proper work that needs to be done.

[Random update inserted here!]
Recently Zhenni, [livejournal.com profile] thesuperette and I went to Sunshine Plaza because [livejournal.com profile] thesuperette wanted to find some photography shop to check out a super small (toy?) digital camera she saw in a magazine, and even though I tried not to, I got attracted to a digital lomography camera.

If I'm not wrong, it's a Harinezumi 2. I was bought over by it having a macro function and being able to do sound recording. But I don't have the money to buy it =(

Ah well. *Adds to neverending wishlist*

Anyway, as I was saying, am bored and am procrastinating. So you get multiple updates from me! Woots!

Here's something random )

Here it is, the whole bunch of photos I've uploaded but never got the change to blog about (all right, I admit, I was just procrastinating).

Seven hours left and I still haven't gotten round to do #5 of that list!

26 August: Cookies this time )

Phew! And that's #4 taken care of! Looking back, most of my 2009 has been about food (or most of my life...?). I'm such a pig. But well. Now that I have a part-time job that earns me at least double of the allowance I used to get from my mother pre-job, I can bear to part with a little more of my money on better (but still student-affordable) food. For me, enjoying food comes along with enjoying the company of friends I'm having that meal with, and that experience of trying something new together. So... I guess it worked out well for a food-filled 2009...? Heh :D

Ack! Less than 10 hours left to the end of 2009 and I still have a backlog of entries I want to do before the new year starts!

Um. Let's start with my Christmas celebration. Well, actually. My family doesn't really celebrate it so the only celebration that could count as a celebration was with the people from work. More specifically, we had a BBQ and gift exchange at The Boss's place. Before that, as with all corporations, we had to suffer through hearing nothing but Christmas songs all day long at work. Not just any old Christmas songs, strange versions like those sung by Hi5 and—forgive me for saying this, those in my F-list who are religious—lots of prayer/praise-ish (I don't know how those are called) songs that make me cringe because as much as I understand that people believe in different things, I still think of myself as an atheist and I don't appreciate needing to listen to songs about religious entities and not being unable to turn it off or escape somewhere.

That whole playlist was burnt on a CD by The Lady Boss and before we started playing her CD, I wanted to burn my own mix because at least I will find songs that are as religiously-neutral as Christmas songs can get (goodness, TLB got horrified at 'Last Christmas'. 'LAST CHRISTMAS''! It's like, one of the classics! Mind do not compute!) but she wanted to use hers because she found a way to burn a CD that can play non-stop for eight (or was it 18?) hours without us having to restart the CD when it ends.

Seriously, has she taken into consideration that not all our customers are Christians, not to mention the fact that there is no dominant religion in Singapore, much less Christianity being a dominant religion here? How would she feel if she needs to listen to hours of Buddhist chants?

But anyway. Five days before Christmas, I had a shift and I brought my camera to work.

Naturally, random photo-taking happened. )

Ack! It's just less than 25 hours left of 2009 and I haven't finished that list of things I wanted to (at least) get done before the year is over D: I'm getting too good at procrastinating. Ugh.

Oh well. Anyway. Today, after all these weeks of break, my uni clique finally had the time to meet up for lunch. Oh food. Just deciding about what we're going to eat kept me excited the whole of last night. I'm such a slave for food.

Last night, I was asking around for recommendations for Japanese food at ION Orchard and [livejournal.com profile] esined_xoxo suggested that we try Sho Teppan, while [livejournal.com profile] thesuperette was talking about a certain restaurant that she heard from friends that were quite good. Naturally, I thought they were talking about the same restaurant. Turns out, they weren't. [livejournal.com profile] thesuperette was actually talking about AOBA Hokkaido Ramen. And because we are fickle, we ended up having lunch at Watami.

始まった!やっと始まった!

Hajimatta! Yatto hajimatta!
(It has) started! It has finally started!

Trimester is over, all my assignments submitted, JLPT4 over and done with a couple of hours ago (although I have a very bad feeling that I won't pass D: thanks to crazy school schedule leaving me with no time to study and I tried to cram everything into my head last night until 3a.m. and OMG THE LISTENING SECTION must you change your conversation details every few seconds? Stop confusing us! And the grammar section was just EPIC FAIL D: Am feeling very MEH about it).

But anyway, trimester break is finally here! THREE WEEKS! Okay, less than that, because I need to spare some days for work to get allowance, BUT BREAK! FINALLY! XD

So, as I have promised myself a few weeks ago to buy a tub of ice-cream and finish it all by myself...

Decadence YAY! )

Us uni clique had a gathering/outing yesterday after class because M.Yi, [livejournal.com profile] thesuperette and William's birthdays fell in the past two weeks.

Oh, digressing a bit, my Magazine Journalism lecturer is so bloody archaic it's not even cute. He disapproves of using 'one' in phrases like, "One has to first marvel at how the human ear can endure the volume of the music." and the words 'albeit' and 'ponder' because 'one' is a very old way of addressing one's self, 'albeit' supposedly went obsolete in the 1600s - and why are we even using it? - and 'ponder' is a Singaporean expression.

WHAT?

'One' is a perfectly good and neutral way to address a person or entity in formal writings, and 'ponder' is an English word, no? What in the world made it Singaporean? It's not even Singlish! AND I LIKE USING 'ALBEIT'. It shows that I know my vocabulary, it makes me feel more intellectual, and words going obsolete is a very very sad thing, if you ask me. 'Albeit' has its uses, which is more than I can say for so many weird words that can be substituted with simpler words that mean the same thing. And people do still use 'albeit'! Stop being so stiff about language when we're not writing formal stuff and wake up and smell the 21st century. Seriously.

As I was saying )

Two days ago (on Saturday), I finally tried to bake that Butter Pound Cake (with lemon) I've been wanting to since months ago. Well, I had to, or the heavy whipping cream I bought would expire soon.

FAIL/WIN? )

As I've mentioned, I've made the same noodles—but with spaghetti, cheese hot dogs and an egg instead—for lunch at work. YAY for saving S$6 today by not buying outside food! (And YAY for chili padi!)
