Writer's Block: Another country

Do you have good friends from other countries that you've met on LiveJournal? Have you ever met them in person? If not, do you think you ever will? Submitted By moskalkov_opera (on LiveJournal) |
Nope, I'm not getting a writer's/blogging block. I'm just trying to ease my way back in after my long blogging hiatus. HAI FLIST DID YOU MISS ME? :D
So. I do have good friends that I've made thanks to LJ and nope we haven't met in person. I wish we could meet in person but I'm not sure whether it'll be possible. It will be super awesome if we could, though.
My first few LJ friends were made through fandom (big surprise), specifically the CSI: Miami fandom, in the order of swift_tales,
lausi_gm and
spilled_notes.
swift_tales was kind of unexpected because I was following her Odd Colour Series on FanFiction.Net and it led to more of her fics on her LJ. Thanks to the power of fangirling over the same OTP and fanfic commenting, there came friendship and the joining of LJ communities, which led me to
lausi_gm and
spilled_notes, who are awesome people who remind me to think more of myself than I do and who reassure me that I'm not as alone as I always think I am.
It's strange yet awesome how just one common interest can sustain these friendships for these past few years, and it's even more awesome that our common fandoms keep expanding to include Torchwood (oh, Ianto *wibbles*) and Merlin. I love it that we have similar tastes in UK series.
Then there's the fandom for w-inds. and WaT, where I've met lovryu,
esined_xoxo,
tomosuki,
chychaai and
gn_chan. The first three don't really count since we're in the same country, but I like them and they deserve a mention, especially
lovryu, with whom I've shared lots of late-night-early-morning flaily times with over pretty and hilarious Japanese boys, the Merlin cast (Gaius's eyebrows FTW!), cracky British comedy shows, the similarities of our lives having been through the same education system and having enough similar character traits to be LJ-and-MSN-IM twins, and the EPIC FAIL of our fellow Singaporeans.
Come to think of it, the main reason why I know all these people came down to our love for hot and/or pretty boys/men. I love how superficial us fangirls are XD

Date: 2010-04-27 05:54 pm (UTC)Also: I read the post above, but wasn't sure if I should comment, now I'm on commenting on this I just want to say: friendships are really freaking important and I don't know if you're reading the situation right, but talking about it with the parties involved might help? I don't know, I hope you feel better soon!
(Also: your self-control FTW! Because if I have major fights with my friends I usually can't stop myself from spewing the issues all over the internet *fails)

Yup, friendships are very very important. At least they are to me, but somehow I feel that some of the people I share it with? They don't appreciate me as much as I do them. Don't think talking works though, because as much as we're friends, the only thing binding us is work. Yup, they're my work-friends. But sometimes during work, I kinda feel like I'm not part of them. I don't know, maybe I'm angsting too much *shrugs*
Haha if you've seen my Twitter updates, you'll notice where my impulsive spews went. But I guess it's part laziness and part-too-pissed-to-type-a-coherent-entry that stopped me from saying much on LJ. I probably still will, blog about it, I mean. We shall see :P
And no, it's not FAIL to spew your issues. It's an outlet for you to release your frustrations and it's your freedom how you want to use it :) All those negative feelings have to go somewhere and you can't keep it all inside or you'll breakdown or something.

Date: 2010-05-02 12:10 pm (UTC)I do understand what you mean by thinking that something you feel that a friendship is undervalued by the second party in the friendship. I get that sometimes too, I think everybody gets that. I don't know if it's really angsting too much, that could be the case, but I don't know that much about your interactions.
Lol :p I don't visit twitter that much, so it's possible I've missed some... I did see your Doctor Who and your Glee tweets though!
Very true, frustrations have to go somewhere. It's only uncomfortable when I realize that sometimes the people I'm complaining about actually READ my LJ account and then they call me on it *cringes*

Date: 2010-05-03 06:37 am (UTC)Oh yeah, my tweet-spams XD which reminds me, I haven't caught the latest Doctor Who episode yet. Hmm...
Ahh I've made good use of the LJ privacy settings. So no one knows what I don't want them to know :P
