ひさしぶり!
Hisashiburi!
Long time no see!
Wow. It's been three weeks since I last updated my LJ. Ugh, schoolwork, the things you do to me.
Public Relations Issues and Strategies. How I hate you. I hate Public Relations. It's like marketing, and I didn't like marketing, which was why I chose to take a diploma in logistics-related studies over marketing (and Business, because I suck at accounting like WHOA) back in polytechnic. And I hate group work. Well, not hate group work, just my group. Because Murphy loves me, other than Dianah and Jay, I got stuck with the exact group of girls I didn't like. OMG so much agony, and drama, and inward-eye-rolling from me.
So sorry we didn't have the same understanding of 'semi-formal' and I wore a dress shirt with a denim skirt when the rest turned up in full formal outfit. Turns out your idea of 'semi-formal' is dress shirt with pants/skirt without blazer. Have you not noticed that 90% of office employees in Singapore dress formally to work and forgoing the blazer is considered FORMAL? Yes, so sorry I don't have a very varied wardrobe and I didn't want to go shopping at the last minute (because as all ladies know, that rarely reaps favourable results) for a presentation where wearing a formal outfit is of your/group's own choice and was NOT a grading criteria. You didn't have to keep saying, "Make sure her skirt can't be seen!" when taking photographs. I, for one, am socially-conscious and know to hide my denim skirt and don't need your obnoxious attitude.
By the way, have you not noticed your dear friend IN A DRESS? Dresses are NOT formal-wear. Double-standard, much?
Also, reports with multiple points and sub-points are to be progressively indented accordingly regardless of how "messy and skewed and a waste of space and paper, and how ridiculous" it looked. IT'S THE BLOODY PROPER WAY TO FORMAT A REPORT.
I spent three years in polytechnic writing/typing out too many reports and analysis essays for my liking. I BLOODY KNOW HOW TO DO THIS SHIT. YOU DON'T DOUBT MY REPORT WRITING-AND-FORMATTING SKILLS. I'M THE MOST ANAL PERSON WHEN IT COMES TO REPORT FORMATTING; YOU DON'T DOUBT MY THREE YEARS OF KNOWLEDGE.
Of course, to maintain peace and whatever, I removed all the indentations. And you know what? It looked way more confusing without the indentations to mark out which section of the report I was reading. You utter shit.
And you don't doubt my proficiency at the English Language. EVER. I already nitpick on myself too much, I don't need your self-absorbed perception that just because you're part American you're better at English than I am.
HOLY 'O' LEVELS A1 GRADE. MY PROFICIENCY IS CAMBRIDGE-ENGLAND-APPROVED.
And your good friend? Who took 5 days to send me a measly three to four pages of her part of the report (in points, which meant that in proper paragraphs it'll all be just two pages)? WAS THAT EVEN ENGLISH? The sentences don't make sense, justifications are illogical, sentences structure is effing non-existent, cause-effect sentences are phrased the wrong way around and staring at just ONE SENTENCE was enough to make me want to murder someone. I was pulling my hair and face-palming in the two days I took to edit that disaster she called 'Effort'. Yes, I took two days to edit that short length of crap work because for every (very short) paragraph I edited I needed an hour to reclaim my brain. YES IT WAS THAT BAD.
And to think she sounded so English-educated. Outward appearances are so deceiving.
AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THEIR CRAP WITH US SPELLING WHEN SINGAPORE USES UK SPELLING AND OUR DEGREE IS FROM AUSTRALIA AND IT ALSO USES UK SPELLING.
At least that EPIC CRAP was over and done with. One less reason to compulsorily spend time with those *shudders* people.
Next.
That darn Media Interviews assignment. After much procrastination, I've finally joined and edited my soundbites on Saturday midnight (or would that make it technically Sunday midnight?) while my mind was half shut-down and fully annoyed at the assignment because I could only use Audacity to edit it when previously in our first trimester's Media Production module, we used Pro Tools, which was way superior and more precise than Audacity.
Ugh. Audacity sucks to the high heavens.
But the editing was all taken care of within hours (by 3 a.m.), and there was only a 200-word write-up left to do so Jay and I met up in school this morning to complete it.
This was what things should look like (ignoring that Facebook game on the iMac): me on MSWord trying to get things done-
Everyone who knows me knows that I have a love-hate relationship with Procrastination, and so this should not be a surprise to see what I really was paying attention to on Albus:
(Can be found here: Bradley Colin: Roadtrip Picspam.)
YES THE MERLIN BOYS. Because they are dorky and adorable and pretty and Bradley's lack of attention to his public image in the eyes of Merlin fans in the form of Rubbery and Ridiculous Facial Expressions never fails to crack me up. And Colin's off-beat humour? HAHA OH COLIN WHY SO CUTE.
(Yes, I know my keyboard skin is dirty. Yet again. Time to get it washed. Again.)
Anyway. Jay and I were in the Mac lab since about 10 a.m. and we were only done with that darn (hardest) 200 words (EVER) at about 5 p.m. EPIC FAIL. Procrastination 1, Jay and me 0.
BUT!
I have successfully Gleefied Jay a few days ago on Friday (Thank you, Matthew Morrison, 'Bust a Move', 'Thong Song' and 'Endless Love'), and after a weekend of listening to Glee songs, one of her favourite songs is 'Defying Gravity'. My work is done. You're welcome, World. EPIC WIN.
(Also? Singtel's Mio TV is using Glee as part of its commercial. I heard the tune for 'Don't Stop Believin'' in my room and started singing to it for a few lines before it moved on to the next Glee song and I suddenly realised why 'Don't Stop Believin'' sounded different from the original and I ran out of my room to the living room just to WATCH A COMMERCIAL WITH GLEE IN IT, but alas, I was too late. Was very sad. Shall try again the next few nights UNTIL I SUCCEED. AND I SHALL.)
I was, however, unable to turn her to Merlin, even with the allure of pretty Bradley. Because she believes that Craig Homer from Legend of the Seeker is hotter. This is not the end, m'dear. I will have you converted one day.
Jay and I procrastinated throughout the day doing things like watching Disney clips on YouTube. Naturally I was singing along to it, matching the lyrics and the dialogues (especially in Scar's 'Be Prepared' and Belle's 'Belle') and both amusing and freaking Jay out with my hopeless fangirling and almost-perfect memory when it comes to Disney songs. Fun times. EPIC WIN.
I got Jay hooked onto Potter Puppet Pals in "The Mysterious Ticking Noise" and she kept replaying it every 10 minutes (when she wasn't playing 'A Whole New World' and Madeline's intro song). EPIC WIN.
Best part? The final assignment for Media Interviews was all done and submitted to SJ, our Programme Executive, which meant that I don't need to go to school tomorrow to submit it to our lecturer (who, for some reason, rubs off the wrong way on me, and only me. Seemed like everyone else is okay about him. Weird), SO I CAN SKIP CLASS TOMORROW. MAJOR EPIC WIN YAY.
BUT. Guess what MADE my 2009. Yes, my WHOLE YEAR. Jay, Thaza, Gen and I did the whole Potter Puppet Pals in "The Mysterious Ticking Noise". HAHAHA. WE ARE SUCH CHILDREN.
(Ugh, last two EPIC FAILs. There is still the collateral to do for that public relations module. A news release, a feature article, and a fully designed flyer. All due this Friday. And my JLPT4 examination is less than one week away, on the 6th. I AM NOT EVEN HALF DONE WITH ALL THE NOTES AND BOOKS MY FRIENDS LENT ME. At least I have the video of PPP spazzage to cheer myself up. Am so easy to please.)
VIDEO MONDAY 16

Couldn't stop laughing at this. Because I grew up on Sesame Street and The Muppets, among other things like Disney, Discovery Channel and geeky dinosaur books.
Here's the original video by Queen.
Also? My mother has neither heard of Queen nor 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. One more thing about her for me to despair about.
