Nodo ga itai.
(My) throat hurts.
So. Since this, I've been sick for almost two weeks with on-and-off-flu-and-blocked-nose and sore throat. Ugh. I hate that scratchy feeling at the back of my throat. At least I'm feeling just a bit better and the flu is almost gone. It was so bad last week when my whole body felt sore and I just want to lie in bed and never get up - and for the first time I stopped being the '100% attendance student' and deliberately missed class.
It was a Wednesday night (on the 30th?) and I've survived almost three hours of karaoke at Katong Shopping Centre, which was super cheap because it charges the room and not on the number of people using the room (and I got to sing Japanese songs because Jacq-from-work knows Japanese so we sang some Utada Hikaru songs with lots of gibberish; apparently our Japanese aren't as good as we thought it was. And WTH there was only one w-inds. song? But whatever, I enjoyed '変わりゆく空'), and then three hours of meeting-and-dinner at work (in which lots of suggestions for work-and-efficiency-improvement obviously came from our annoying manager's many complains. Whatever. And I suggested having recycle bins to the boss because I'm environmentally-conscious like that), only to come home and learn that the deadline for our magazine story pitch wasn't on Friday but the next morning.
It was what, past midnight by the time I had my shower? My mind was a blank because I totally forgot there was an magazine story pitch example in our text I could use so I had no idea how to do it nor how many words our lecturer wanted and, hello, sick person = 0 creativity available in brain.
So. I fell asleep on Albus just wrecking said brain trying to think of something to "pitch", because I want something interesting but easy to write on when we write the actual magazine story, and then I found out we won't be doing an actual story so there won't be a follow-up assignment after the magazine story pitch when I woke up with a head stuffed full of fluff and pins and needles in my arms at 2.30a.m.
*FACEPALM*
By the time I finished the pitch at 4.30a.m. I got so fed up and wrung out I had no mood for school, much less even looking at that infuriating lecturer, so I sent my document to Jacq-from-school so she could print it for submission while I sleep and mourn the temporary loss of my health.
Turns out, I made the right decision because sometime in the afternoon Y.Ting told me on MSN IM that nothing much went on in class because the lecturer continued discussing our assignments from the week before and the deadline for the magazine story pitch was on the next Thursday and not on that day. There was a moment of baffled silence before I joined Y.Ting in a very heated IM cursing session about that man. Then we found out there wouldn't be any classes the next day (Friday) because the lecturer emailed us saying:
Dear all,
I have cancelled the Friday workshops this week. We have outpaced ourselves and have little creative to do until next week.
Yeah, took him long enough to realise that creativity doesn't come from stressed-and-tired minds. Oh, wait, he meant 'not enough creative things to do' and not 'not enough creativity left'? Seriously, WHAT? Oh, you drunk and oft-hungover old man. How I hate you so.

Okay, I know I'm slow because this was last year's news. This has been sitting in my Bookmarks folder for the longest time and I keep forgetting to pimp it. Because as much as I think the lack of accessibility to the institution of marriage protects same-gender couples from the messy divorces heterosexual couples find themselves burdened with and makes them cherish more of what little difficult chances of happiness they could find, falling in love in a way not-common in a society doesn't make the person wrong and doesn't cut a person off from having rights as a human (and shut up about perhaps one day man can marry his dog. Just. Shut it). Separating 'Gay rights' from 'Human rights' insinuates that they are different from humans and should be treated under another set of rules, and that is just so fundamentally wrong and doesn't help obtain equality for them at all and I won't even start on that debate.
Oh, yes. Neil Patrick Harris is awesome. Just so you know (I was Googling him for maybe an official website to link to and I got distracted for half an hour by his pictures on Google images. Guh).
