Stress relief

As I've mentioned, I've made the same noodles—but with spaghetti, cheese hot dogs and an egg instead—for lunch at work. YAY for saving S$6 today by not buying outside food! (And YAY for chili padi!)
Had another day at work (where I still couldn't get my first pay cheque because I wasn't at work when it was given out a couple of weeks ago, and my cheque was with the other Boss and not the Boss who was in today). Was kinda tired and feeling funky from the heat and the sweat because I've woken up just a bit earlier to cook and pack my lunch, and because I slept at 3 a.m. the previous night.
(Was playing The Sims 3. Could not figure out how to build stairs to the second floor, on which I have already built rooms with beds, so my Sims were all stuck on the ground floor, napping on the couch. Had to buy extra couches and beds to put all over the place but Sims!Teppei and Sims!Eiji kept getting pissed off because there were no other single beds available and they didn't want to sleep on the same bed, despite getting on so well that all I had to do was to get them talking about music and they would not stop. All my teenage Sims were so sleep-deprived that they ran home from school at the end of lessons just to catch some sleep. LOL. I was so frustrated about my FAIL at stairs that I deleted that family and promptly went to bed. Will attempt some other time after I get to downloading add-ons.)
So. Work. Was zoning out for a bit and minding the entrance from the cashier to the parents' lounge and kids' play area, indulging in random and crazed antics for self-amusement, and basically just walking around anywhere do just do anything to wake myself up. Eventually I had to accompany a little girl outdoors to the inflatable castle/pirate ship because she was by herself then, and whoa, did she tired me out. All the jumping about under the hot and crazy-bright Singapore sun, exposed to the mad Singapore eternal-summer-weather, and the girl just refused to feel tired. Had to admire her stamina. I was so relieved when she finally wanted to head back indoors.
Of course, my mind woke up enough by then to join in on my colleague-friends' childish behaviour in the indoor play area, over-excitement at the short but very slippery slides, and unbelievable amount of madness at the top of the structure.

Was totally beat at the end of the day, but my mind felt strangely refreshed—recharged. Everything felt simple and more enjoyable and—stress? What is this... 'stress' that you speak off?
Of course, it was the tiredness that overwhelmed the stress (and the strain on the muscle where my neck joined my right shoulder shifted my attention too. No idea how I got it. Weird), but it truly felt as if my job is just one huge stress reliever.
It would be wonderful if every job out there had such easy-to-get-along-with colleagues, friendly and understanding bosses (and their wives, who would hurry us to grab food from the leftover catering before everything's cleared up because we don't have a dinner break since the place closes at 8.30 p.m. on weekends, where my shifts are all on Saturdays), and amusing kids to remind ourselves that that is how humans should interact with one another—simple, honest, and without hidden motives. And just, makes you feel mentally lightened and physically emptied out, ready for a good rest to face the impending new day.
Which, by the way, is something I'm seriously needing right now. Sleep, I mean. Goodnight, world.

Date: 2009-06-28 09:50 am (UTC)(Or the job is like a "reboot", that drains everything away and after a good night's sleep, everything is better than ever. Either ways, it's a nice feeling and it's too much to wish for every job to be like that.)
If I could send you our weather, I'd gladly do so in a heartbeat. Then I can have your grey skies to keep temperatures cooler here. Ah~ wishful thinking, us :P
