Too old for this... stuff

きょうはたいへんけど、すげぇたのしい!
Kyou wa taihen kedo, sugee tanoshii!
It was a difficult day, but it was fun!
My first work day at The Polliwogs (yes, the place has a name, which also means tadpoles, which refers to the children)!
I woke up two hours earlier than I had first intended because K.Ying wanted to go East Coast Park to take photos and I had (stupidly) volunteered to be the "model". Also? I didn't even sleep as early as I wanted to last night. But 1 a.m. is an improvement from 3 a.m., no? Let's see how fast I can get this entry out and go to bed earlier than 3 a.m. again tonight.
Anyway, we were at the beach to take photos, and I was a very uncooperative model. My fringe isn't long enough to tuck behind my ears and the wind kept blowing it into my face. Plus, the sun was so bright, I was squinting my eyes for more than half of all the shots. Which was why I turned out looking constipated in most of them. But there seemed to be enough photos to justify us waking up crazy early, so. Heh.
We have a tee-shirt as our uniform (which we don't have to pay for, YAY!) but it was pink. Bright pink.
K.Ying and I hated pink, so when we saw our shirts, our first reaction was a look of disdain and disgust. Oh well. It a job. Can't be choosy about things like that.
We then set about cleaning the place and strangely enough, I liked it. Cleaning in itself, I mean (as long as it's not my own room). There's this certain... therapeutic effect from letting your body work on autopilot and not needing to think at all, and letting any and all thoughts come and go inside your mind while seeing the thing before you slowly being free of dirt. It's paradoxically relaxing, at least for the mind, because my fingers were feeling funny. Sensitive skin on my fingers are troublesome.
And I killed a spider while I was wiping things down. It suddenly reminded me of :

(I was referring to 06:35 to 07:39, but the other parts of the clip are amusing, too.)
Well, I supposed I've upset the 'balance of nature' so it's up to Bradley and Colin to find another spider in order to right the 'balance' again, although Bradley didn't know what that even meant (yes, they're my Merlin OTP, if it wasn't obvious enough).
But I digressed. So cleaning was all right, but doing that for the kids' climbing structure thing was physically draining because we were all too big for something meant for little people. I hit my head once, and all of us were bending-walking, knee-walking or crawling around the place while we played in cleaned it.
That cannot be good for the spine.
The rope tunnel to the highest (and only) spiral slide.
Freaky freaky freaky, especially when I looked down and there was nothing under my feet save for rope, metal frame and almost two storeys of air.
After the place opened to customers and they began to stream in, things got chaotic because the high-tech cash register was being more of a hindrance than a help. It kept popping up error messages and wouldn't let us print receipts nor process credit cards. They should have made sure things would work smoothly before officially opening (yesterday) because all the confusion would only make us (and the outlet) look bad in front of customers.
Oh well, hopefully everything will be straightened out by the time I work my next shift next Saturday.
Oh, yeah. My Twitter account. It felt conducive for me, as a self-proclaimed writer with not enough time on my hands to write a piece of appropriate length. Plus, ideas for writings come to me in the form of short phrases or the literary variation of a 'moment'. 140 characters? It's a good way to archive those phrases and ideas without thinking that I won't be able to expand them and then worrying that I have no place to "put" those ideas.
And I wrote a Merlin tweetfic (crossposted on merlin_tweetfic here). Surprising. Because all the other writers in that fandom are BRILLIANT and I feel so inadequate that I've never even thought about writing something for Merlin. Also? RPS in the Merlin fandom? Made of all kinds of awesome. I think it's the only fandom where I'm not squicked by RPS. Well, mostly it's because Bradley and Colin are amazing
ly adorable and slashable and OMG fluffy blond hair and cute pout and unexpected cheekiness from Colin and the parallels between them and the Arthur-Merlin relationship are quite easy to see. Ugh. I really need 48 hours a day to catch up on all the fanfictions that I've had to not read for the sake of schoolwork.
Ugh. I feel sore all over and my right shoulder aches. Am getting too old to be playing with children-appropriate play area, even if my inner child was bouncing off the walls by just being in close proximity to it. Am too old for this stuff. Seriously. Although, K.Ying, who I've always thought to be more athletic and has better stamina than me was already dead by our break time while I GAMEOVER-ed during the walk home. It made me feel marginally better.

Date: 2009-05-24 05:56 pm (UTC)I was hoping for a glimpse at you (the uncooperative, sleep-depraved model) :D
Your workplace sounds like fun (and a bit chaotic. But I guess that's normal when things newly open. There's bound to go lots of things wrong in my experience.)
As for twitter account... uhm... I hardly dare say (*is whispering*... I got one too, today. And for the life of me, I cannot tell you why?!?! LOL ... actually I can.. it's my stalker tool. In case Jonathan Togo will ever get a twitter account. *is pathetic... knows it too*
You wrote Merlin? Don't even know the series, but I'm totally sure, that it will be awesome. You're an awesome writer, really! Very gifted. As soon as I figured that twitter stuff out (sometime the next millenium) I'll go check it out.
I must admit though, I'm totally grossed out by RPS. Honestly, that's a line, I just wouldn't dare to cross in writing EVER , no matter what. I can't even bring myself to read that stuff. But well, to each his own. Anyway, ... I hope your shoulder isn't given you any trouble tomorrow and that you can start "fresh" with the little terrors... uhm... will say, children ;)
Have fun, dear!

Will JT even know how to use Twitter? Considering he almost threw out his computer just because storage space ran out...
I get squicked by RPS too. But somehow, the RPS for Merlin hasn't squicked me out yet. Because, well. The cast has this CHEMISTRY that everyone noticed and expanded on. Merlin cast RPS is the only RPS I read, so... I'm safe from The Squick.
Shoulder isn't hurting anymore, thanks for asking! So I'm all set for this coming Saturday!

You totally have a point regarding JT and Twitter (LOL... how did I miss that? You're right, he probably wouldn't know what to do. The whole thing - me on twitter - is a joke, really. I'm not sure if I'll keep it. Probably not :D)
