Kyou wa su...goku atsui! Natsu no 'Sonzai Kan' wa hontouni kanjiru.
It was super hot today! I can really feel the 'Presence' of summer.

I WENT TO WATCH CATS (with W.Yiu) LAST NIGHT!

It was the first musical I've ever watched that isn't a movie nor a flim adaptation. Woots! And I finally wore a skirt after three years. Wow. Has it been that long?

It was after we entered the theatre that I realised I've overestimated Singaporean's standards when it came to the definition of 'semi-formal'. People were in jeans and tank-tops and slippers! Slippers. FRIGGIN SLIPPERS (W.Yiu said those were sandals, but technically, those are considered flip-flops, ie. slippers), when I went to get myself new heels (which I failed to break in a few days prior and it gave me blisters before we even began dinner) and a skirt! *Grumbles*

I freaked out when I met up with W.Yiu and he asked if cameras were even allowed.

*Facepalm*

He hid it in his jacket when the staff were scanning bags (good thing I gave up looking for a clutch. Well, all the BLING! turned me off, anyway. Seriously, are there no more plainer accessories anymore?!), but as it turned out, it was fine to carry cameras in. Ho hum.

Random photos of the theatre hall~

We were already pretty high up for the prices of that seating area. I wonder how much more the people in the front row right at the stage had to pay. And I was very intrigued by the acoustics structure on the ceiling. Yes, a part of me will always be a choir-girl and be forever amused by anything related to that, in any degree.

The stage!

The set was just amazing, what with all the contraptions and gimmicks.
The photo isn't doing it justice.

It was pretty good, actually. Especially since there were some interactions with the audience during the scenes and even during intermission. And Rum Tum Tugger was SO CUTE! Is it weird that I immediately thought that John Barrowman could totally act that role? The character was so larger-than-life (so JB!) and it would be so much fun if it was JB prancing around in a cat suit XD

The person who played Jemima could use some work though. She sounded a little too soft at certain parts. *Shrugs*

And, um, it's a little not-nice to say this, but I kinda feel that the person who played Grizabella was trying to emulate Elaine Paige, but only succeeding on the technical front. Our seats were too far away to see how she acted so I can't judge on anything other than how she sounded. But once you watched EP, there just wouldn't be anyone who could match up to the emotion she puts into her singing. Well, she was the original Grizabella, after all.

SHE. IS. AWESOME.

I had tears in my eyes the moment she staggered in and—OMG!—the way she strained towards Old Deuteronomy. And I was literally crying at 5:03.

AND THE ENDING.

Aww...

(And, that is how Jemima should sound like.)

Because Rum Tum Tugger is so HOT. And last night's John O'Hara was amazing in the role. *Fangirls*

And it was so cute when he grabbed someone from the first row to dance with. Argh! Front row people! *Envy!*

It had been extremely HOT these past few days and today, just when I succumbed to the heat, gave up on my fan that had been set on 'max' the whole morning, decided to switch on the air-con, IT REFUSED TO START.

Murphy's Law, stop using me as your perfect human example!

The fan turned on 'max' didn't help AT ALL. Thank goodness there was a thunderstorm in the afternoon. I can't survive a world undergoing global warming, living in Singapore, being only 1o above the equator, and with an air-con that can't even be switched on!

*WAILS*
